God as Male
Q: Doesn’t it bother you to refer to God as male? Isn’t God bigger than that?
A: God surely is bigger than what our human minds can grasp onto when we imagine Him as male or solely masculine. The Bible says that male and female were created in His image, so by that we can see that He encompasses more than what we think of when considering only the male gender. Indeed, the Bible indicates that every quality that we can identify as positive ~ love, justice, mercy, authority, gentleness, power, nurture, strength, etc. ~ flow from His very nature.
However, in the Bible, God describes Himself as male. We have speculated that this is to highlight His authority. Regardless, as we believe that the Bible is made of His very words, we respect His decision to refer to Himself as male and Father. We also experience Him as a Father. Yet we find absolutely nothing lacking in God; rather, we have found everything that we need, unlike our former experience of worshiping various goddesses or a concept of an ultimate Goddess, so it is not a problem for us. Having found perfection, we have no complaints.
