Fulfilled Bible Prophecies: Israel

The God of the Bible made many prophecies about the nation of Israel, several of which have already been fulfilled. This is just a short list of fulfilled Bible prophecies in reference to Israel, as evidence demonstrating the veracity of the scriptures.

Prophecy Scripture Fulfillment
Diaspora And it shall come to pass, that as the Lord rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the Lord will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it. And the Lord shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone. ~ Deut 28:63-64 The Jewish people suffered exile from the land of Israel starting with the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 A.D. They were dispersed for almost 2000 years, suffering enormous persecution. Yet they survived and returned.
Return And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. ~ Is 11:11-12 Hundreds of Bible verses prophesy the Jews’ return to Israel. They began returning in the late 19th century and are still returning today.
Purchasing Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the Lord. ~ Jer 32:44 The Jews began buying back the land starting in 1886 and continuing thru 1947.
Rebirth Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. ~ Is 66:8 Israel was re-established as a sovereign nation within a 24 hour period, from 14-15 May 1948.
Order Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth ~ Is 43:5-6 The Jews returned from eastern Europe and Arab countries, western Europe, Russia (north), and Ethiopia (south), in that order, just as prophesied.
Language For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent. ~ Zeph 3:9 The Jews spoke an impure form of Hebrew called Yiddish until their return. Upon returning to Israel, the pure form of their language was reestablished.
Shekel And the shekel shall be twenty gerahs: twenty shekels, five and twenty shekels, fifteen shekels, shall be your maneh. … All the people of the land shall give this oblation for the prince in Israel. ~ Ez 45:12, 16 After nearly 2,000 years the shekel was reinstated as the common monetary unit in Israel, just as prophesied.
Estates And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. ~ Ez 36:11 There are many cities in Israel that were re-established in their same locations with their same names, e.g. Cana, Nazareth, Jericho, Nain, Bethany, Bethlehem, Hebron, & Gaza.
Cursed Cities Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell … ~ Matt 11:21-23a All of these cities are still in ruins today.
Productivity And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. ~ Amos 9:14
And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited. ~ Ex 36:35
Israel has been restored, from being a land of malaria-infested swamps and deserts to becoming a flourishing and fruitful land, much like the garden of Eden.
Triumph Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. ~ Is 41:11-13 Since the reestablishment of Israel in 1948, each time it has been attacked by much larger countries, Israel has prevailed.
Rebuilt Ruins In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old: … ~ Amos 9:11 Israel has steadily been rebuilding its ancient cities since its reestablishment in 1948.
Jerusalem Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country; And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness. ~ Zechariah 8:7-8 Even after Israel was reborn in 1948, the Jews did not have control of Jerusalem. That did not happen until 1967.
Waterways I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. ~ Is 41:18 The River Zin was rebirthed on 14 March 2014 after years of being a dry creek bed.
Trees I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together: That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it. ~ Is 41:19-20 In the 1900s, when many Jews returned to Israel, they built a network of irrigation systems to combat the natural desert-like conditions of the terrain. During the past century, more than 250 million trees have been planted in Israel.
Fruit He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit. ~ Is 27:6 Formerly a barren wasteland, Israel is now a world leader in agricultural products, feeding both its own people as well as exporting food to many countries.
Egypt And I will bring again the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their habitation; and they shall be there a base kingdom. It shall be the basest of the kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself any more above the nations: for I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations. ~ Ez 29:14-15 Since this prophecy, Egypt has not ruled other nations, despite having been a world power for centuries before. In 1948, 1967, and 1973, it tried to dominate Israel but failed, in spite of being 10 times larger.
